Indian Navy goodwill delegation returns to India

A goodwill delegation led by Indian Navy Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, PVSM, AVSM, NM, who had been on an official visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, departed from Yan­gon yesterday morning by air. They were seen off at Yangon International Airport by Sen­ior officers of the Tatmadaw (Navy), the Indian Naval At­taché to Myanmar, and other officials.

During the visit, on 2 May, the delegation visited the Thanlyin Naval Base, where they received a guard of hon­our and held discussions with the commander. They also visited the Naval Training Command Headquarters in Thanlyin, where officials wel­comed them. The Indian Navy Chief inaugurated a Small Arms Simulator at the train­ing centre, visited the historic warship Mayu, and planted a commemorative tree.

On 3 May, the delegation travelled to the Inlay region, where they paid homage at the PhaungdawU Pagoda, observed traditional weaving activities, and toured Inlay Lake. They later arrived in Nay Pyi Taw and visited the Maravijaya Buddha Image.

On 4 May, the delegation visited the Memorial to the Fallen Heroes (Nay Pyi Taw) and laid a wreath to the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country and Tat­madaw. Then, they met with Commander-in-Chief (Navy) at Bayintnaung Guesthouse and held a discussion. The Indian delegation visited the Defence Services Museum and attend­ed the dinner event hosted by Commander-in-Chief (Navy). — MNA/KTZH
