MSEZ Central Working Committee holds 1st meeting
THE Myanmar Special Economic Zone
Central Working Committee held its first meeting for the 2026-2027 financial
year in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Speaking
at the meeting,
Union Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr Kan Zaw, who is also the chairman of
the working committee, said that the President had already given guidance on
the processes needed to improve the socioeconomic lives of the people during
the term of the new government. Therefore, special economic zones must strive
through various means to contribute to the State’s economic development. The
special economic zones currently being implemented are an important component
of the country’s economic growth. Successfully implementing these zones is
essential for creating employment opportunities for the people, increasing
manufacturing output and exports, attracting more foreign investment, and
earning higher foreign income.
The secretary and joint secretary of the
working committee, chairmen of Thilawa, Kyaukpyu and Dawei Special Economic
Zones clarified the ongoing work plans of respective zones, and the Union Minister
concluded the meeting after giving proper instructions. — MNA/KTZH
