Myanmar showcases Thanaka and Laphet culture at UNESCO Vesak Day Ceremony in Paris

ACCORDING to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Myanmar
Embassy in Paris showcased Myanmar’s traditional Thanaka and Laphet culture at
the UNESCO headquarters in Paris during a Vesak Day ceremony held on 6 May.
The event was attended by embassy officials led by Chargé d’Affaires and Ambassador U Kyaw Nyunt Oo, as well as UNESCO
officials, permanent representatives, diplomats and invitees.
Myanmar is currently preparing to submit its traditional
fermented tea culture for inclusion on UNESCO’s Representative List of the
Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Myanmar’s traditional Thanaka culture
was also resubmitted to UNESCO in 2025, with a decision expected later this
year.
Myanmar’s traditional Thingyan festival was inscribed on
UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
