Over 66 Tons of Illegal Timber Seized Nationwide

The Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation continues to intensify its crackdown on the illegal timber trade through a range of measures, including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS) in cooperation with local communities.
Between 11 and 17 May this year, a total of 66.25 tons of illegal timber were seized across the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, various states and regions. The confiscated timber included 13.00 tons of teak, 8.77 tons of hardwood, and 44.47 tons of other wood types.
Authorities also seized 14 vehicles and pieces of machinery used in illegal logging operations and arrested six suspects in connection with the cases.— MNA
