Yangon City FC sign Myanmar midfielder Myat Kaung Khant




YANGON City FC have signed Myanmar national team midfield­er Myat Kaung Khant on a two-year contract with an option for a one-year extension ahead of their first season in the MNL.


The 2+1 deal marked Yan­gon City’s first signing for the upcoming season.


Myat Kaung Khant began his football career at Pathein Acade­my in 2012 before continuing his development at Mandalay Acad­emy in 2014. He earned selection for the Myanmar U16 team in 2016 and competed in the ASEAN U16 Championship and AFC U17 qualifiers.


He started his professional career with Yadanabon FC in 2019 and moved on loan to Thai League 2 club Chainat in 2020 for his first overseas spell. In 2022, he joined Shan United FC before moving to Indonesian Liga 1 club Persikabo in 2023.


He returned to Shan United in the 2024 season and played for two seasons before joining Yangon City this year.

At the international level, he won silver medals with Myan­mar U16 in the 2016 ASEAN U16 Championship and Myanmar U19 in the 2018 ASEAN U19 Champi­onship, as well as a bronze medal with Myanmar U23 at the 2019 SEA Games. — Chit Ko Ko/KZL
