Ayeyawady lead Myanmar Women’s League after Round 1
THE 2026-2027 Myanmar Women’s League Round 1, organized by the Myanmar National League under the Myanmar Football Federation with main sponsorship from Max Energy, was held from 15 to 17 June in Nay Pyi Taw, with defending champions Ayeyawady topping the table on goal difference.
In Round 1 matches, Ayeyawady defeated Thitsa Arman 4-0, Zwegabin United beat Yangon City 3-0, Yangon United overcame Yadanabon 3-1, Young Lionesses edged Myawady 2-1, and ISPE defeated Shan United 4-1.
The new season sees a higher tempo, with an increased number of foreign players compared to the previous season, the debut of Myanmar national team striker May Htet Luu in the domestic league, and the return of veteran striker Win Theingi Tun, who previously played abroad.
For Matchday 1, Player of the Match awards (AYA Pay Player of the Match) were given to Naw Htet Htet Wai (Ayeyawady), Gloria (Zwegabin United), Zin Moe Pyae (Yangon United), Shin Thant Phyu Sin Pyae (Young Lionesses), and Lin Myint Mor (ISPE), each receiving a commemorative award and a cash prize of K500,000.
After Round 1, Ayeyawady, ISPE, Zwegabin United, Yangon United and Young Lionesses each have three points. Ayeyawady lead the standings on goal difference, while Myawady, Yadanabon, Yangon City, Shan United and Thitsa Arman are yet to earn points.
Round 2 of the competition will be held from 22 to 24 June. — MNA/KZL
