Illicit 7-storey building in Shwe Kokko demolished in crackdown
A joint team from relevant departments has carried out the controlled demolition of another illegal seven-storey residential building in the Shwe Kokko area, reportedly used for online scam operations and illegal gambling.
Officials said action is ongoing to remove illegal structures linked to online fraud in the Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas of Myawaddy Township, Kayin State, through coordinated efforts by departmental teams.
A total of 77 buildings in Shwe Kokko have been identified as being used for online gambling and fraud activities. Of these, 57 are being demolished using heavy machinery, while 20 are designated for controlled explosive demolition.
On the day, one seven-storey building was demolished as part of the planned operation. So far, 60 illegal buildings have been removed, with 17 remaining scheduled for demolition.
The government stated that tackling online fraud and illegal gambling is a national responsibility, and it is cooperating with neighbouring countries alongside domestic efforts to eliminate such activities from Myanmar territory. — MNA/KZL
