NEPIO defines roles at strategic duties workshop

A workshop on the du­ties and responsibilities of the Nuclear Energy Programme Implement­ing Organization (NE­PIO) was held yesterday morning at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Science and Technology as Myanmar continues implementing its nucle­ar energy development programme in accord­ance with the guidelines of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

It was attended by Union Minister for Sci­ence and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, Deputy Minister Dr Nay Chi Lae Lae Thein, IAEA experts Mr Vsevolod IGIN, Mr Zeki Mehmet BASKURT and Mr Muhammad AYUB, and other rele­vant officials.

At the event, the offi­cials of the IAEA report­ed on the establishment of a national policy posi­tion on nuclear energy and the preparation of a comprehensive report, the duties, responsibili­ties and functions of the Nuclear Energy Pro­gramme Implementing Organization, and in­ternational experienc­es related to nuclear energy. Participants also engaged in discussions and raised questions.
