Seasonal mangosteens and rambutans market booms as sales surge
SEASONAL fruits – mangosteen and rambutan – have enjoyed good prices this year, and consumer demand has also been high, according to fruit sellers.
Mangosteen and rambutan have been available on a large scale in the market, and the fruits have been favourable among consumers, said a fruit seller.
“All ages, from children to adults, like seasonal fruits. Both mangosteen and rambutan are being sold well. And prices are good too this year. Some buy 40-50 fruits to eat, and some buy them to give as presents,” he said.
The price of mangosteen ranges from K400 to K1,000 per piece, depending on size; likewise, the price of rambutan ranges from K500 to K700 per piece, depending on size.
More and more seasonal fruits have been available in the market in monsoon, among them, the demand for mangosteen and rambutan has risen in particular. — MT/ZS
