MoFR briefs Amyotha Hluttaw representatives on budgeting & tax reforms

THE Ministry of Finance and Revenue briefed mem­bers of the Amyotha Hluttaw on its budget manage­ment and tax administration during a meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

The event was attended by Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker U Aung Lin Dwe, Deputy Speaker Jeng Phang Naw Taung, lawmakers and ministry offi­cials.

Director-General Daw Thida Tun of the Budget Department explained the national budget process, including budget planning, the budget cycle, me­dium-term financial framework, budget approval, implementation, monitoring, reporting and auditing. Director-General Daw Mya Mya Oo of the Internal Revenue Department outlined Myanmar’s tax sys­tem, major tax laws, tax categories and ongoing tax reform measures.

The briefing concluded with ministry officials responding to questions and recommendations from lawmakers. — MNA/ST
