MPT Unveils 2026 Youth Internship Initiative
MYANMAR’S leading telecom operator, MPT,
successfully organized the 2026 Nationwide Internship Programme at MPT offices
located in six regions and states from April to June, aiming to provide
engineering students from technological universities with hands-on experience
in real workplace technologies and to bridge the gap between academic theory
and practical industry applications.
Initiated in 2018, the internship
programme has nurtured nearly 3,000 students to date to develop the country’s
technological human resources.
This year, 82 final-year engineering
students from 11 technological universities in Nay Pyi Taw Council, southern
Shan State, Mandalay Region, Taninthayi Region, Ayeyawady Region and Yangon
Region.
The courses provided students with
comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge across various core
domains, including Telecom-related technologies such as Microwave, DWDM (Dense
Wavelength Division Multiplexing), FTTX, Information security and HSE (Health,
Safety, and Environment) Awareness Training. Additionally, the students from
Yangon Head Office visited the Satellite Earth Station, Transmission System and
Call Centre.
Mr Hiroyuki OKAI, Advisor to the COO of
MPTJO, expressed that, “MPT’s goal is not only to deliver the best telecommunication
networks but also to play a key role in developing young tech professionals who
will lead our country forward. Given the rapid evolution of the telecom
industry, exposing university students to real-world workplace challenges and
emerging technologies is a vital step toward their professional development.
We take great pride in knowing that this initiative, which started in 2018,
has helped upgrade the skills of nearly 3,000 youth to date.”
One of the students, Ma Khine Khine Tun,
a final-year engineering student from the West Yangon Technological University
(WYTU), shared her experience: “During this internship, I could clearly
visualize how the network systems and telecom technologies taught in our
university classes function in a real workplace. The senior engineers at MPT
provided systematic guidance throughout the program. This experience has truly
built up our confidence for our future careers.
MPT remains dedicated to developing
younger generations across all sectors in which it operates. As part of its
corporate social responsibility, the company offers a free education programme
for Myanmar’s youth via the MPT Learning Management System (mpt.com. mm). — MT
