Over 7,500 acres of summer sesame harvested in Myittha Township
Myittha 14 July
With the aims of ensuring local consumption, upgrading socioeconomic development and increasing family income through the sale of surplus production, efforts are being made to cultivate high-yield summer sesame. This year, a total of 29,208 acres of summer sesame were cultivated in Myittha Township, Kyaukse District, Mandalay Region.
According to the Township Department of Agriculture, 7,599 acres of the 29,208 acres cultivated have been harvested so far, yielding 13.05 baskets per acre, for a total production of 99,167 baskets.
Officials from the Township Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with relevant departments, are providing support to local farmers — including guidance on selecting high-quality seeds, preventing pest and insect risks, and achieving high yields — to ensure a smooth and successful growing season, according to an official.
