Strong Winds Damage 129 Houses in Nattalin Township

Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds damaged 129 houses in Nattalin Township, Bago Region, at about 11:30 pm on July 5.
According to local authorities, the storm affected six village tracts: Oktan, Kanyengkan, Myosoe, Pemakham, Thazi and Aung Myanmar. A total of 129 houses were damaged, including 120 that lost their roofs and nine that partially collapsed. The storm damaged six houses in Oktan Village Tract, 12 in Kanyengkan, four in Myosoe, 30 in Pemakham, 21 in Thazi and 56 in Aung Myanmar, bringing the total to 129 houses. The damage was estimated at K13.59 million.
Two residents of Kantharyar Village sustained minor injuries during the storm. U Than Oo, 50, suffered a back injury, while his wife, Daw Moe Moe Thet, sustained a neck injury. Both were taken to Nattalin People's Hospital for treatment. No fatalities or livestock losses were reported.
Under the supervision of the Township Disaster Management Committee, the relevant village-tract administrators, village elders and relatives are providing temporary shelter and food assistance to the affected households.— Wai Yan Phyo (IPRD)
