Tatmadaw retakes Kammagyi villages on Kalay-Tamu road
TATMADAW stated it had recaptured Kammagyi (Chin) Village on 19 July and Kammagyi (Bamar) Village on 21 July in Khampat Township as part of operations to reopen the strategic Kalay-Tamu road linking Myanmar and India.
According to the statement, clashes occurred during the operations, with the Tatmadaw claiming to have seized weapons, ammunition and related equipment, while anti-regime forces withdrew after suffering casualties.
Tatmadaw affirmed that it was continuing security operations to restore control of the Kalay-Tamu route, which it described as vital for cross-border trade and local economic activities. It added that damaged infrastructure along the route would be repaired in cooperation with relevant authorities and residents. — MNA/KZL
