Kyauktan I and II weirs under construction to supply Kyaukpyu SEZ




THE Rakhine State gov­ernment stated that Kyauk­tan I and II weirs are being constructed on Maday Is­land to store water for the Kyaukpyu Special Econom­ic Zone (SEZ) project.


Rakhine State Chief Minister U Naing Oo in­spected the construction works on 29 July, accompa­nied by the deputy speaker of the Rakhine State Hlut­taw and state ministers.


During the visit, the chief minister also in­spected the operations of the South-East Asia Oil and Gas Pipeline Project on Maday Island, includ­ing oil and gas transport through pipelines, safety equipment installed at the project site, fire preven­tion measures, oil tankers at the project’s port, and the transfer of fuel oil from tankers to storage tanks.


In Kyaukpyu Town­ship, the chief minister inspected regional devel­opment projects being implemented by the State Government, including the condition of the Ngal­apwayt saltwater embank­ment in Pyinphyumaw Ward, the completion of parapet construction on the embankment, the in­stallation of a solar dryer drone in the ward, and the site of gas turbines for sup­plying electricity to Kyauk­pyu Township. — Tin Htun (IPRD)/MKKS
