Myanmar, Laos discuss labour cooperation at ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Meeting




THE opening ceremony of the 29th ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Meeting was held at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok, Thai­land, yesterday morning.


Thai Prime Minister Mr Anutin Charnvirakul delivered the opening ad­dress, with labour minis­ters and senior officials from ASEAN member states and represent­atives of international organizations attending. Myanmar was represent­ed by Union Minister for Labour U Khin Maung Soe, Myanmar Ambas­sador to Thailand U Zaw Zaw Soe and a delegation.


The meeting will discuss the implemen­tation of the ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Work Programme for 2026-2030 and other labour-related matters for consideration and approval by ASEAN labour ministers.


In the afternoon, U Khin Maung Soe met Lao Deputy Minister of La­bour and Social Welfare Mr Phongsaysack Intha­lath to discuss issuing Certificates of Identity (CI) to undocumented Myanmar workers in Laos, facilitating legal remittances, enabling Myanmar workers to work legally through des­ignated border points, is­suing identity documents and enhancing bilateral labour cooperation. — MNA/KZL
