Applications for education allowances open until 31 Dec

APPLICATIONS for edu­cation allowances for chil­dren of workers insured under the social security scheme for the 2026-2027 academic year may be sub­mitted until 31 December 2026.

 

For the 2026-2027 ac­ademic year, education allowances ranging from K30,000 to K75,000 will be provided according to the level of education.

 

Children of insured workers who have con­tributed to the social se­curity fund for at least 36 months are eligible for the allowance, provided they are enrolled as full-time students at State-owned or State-recognized schools.

 

The all o w a n c e amount is determined by the child’s education level, based on a monthly wage ceiling of K300,000 for in­sured workers.

 

The prescribed ed­ucation allowance rates are K30,000 per child at the primary level, K45,000 at the middle school level, K60,000 at the high school level, K60,000 for students enrolled in distance edu­cation programmes at universities, and K75,000 for students pursuing full-time university education.

 

Insured workers wishing to apply for the education allowance must submit their applications, together with the support­ing documents required under the Social Security Rules, through their re­spective employers to the relevant township Social Security Office no later than 31 December 2026. — ASH/TH
