Yephyu’s VDP introduced with committee formation
THE Yephyu Township Department of Rural Development, Taninthayi Region, held a briefing on the Village Development Project (VDP) and formed a village development committee at the village community hall in Singu Village yesterday. The village has planned to implement the VDP in the 2026-2027 financial year.
At the meeting, U Myint Oo Aung, Staff Officer of the Yephyu Township Department of Rural Development, explained the objectives, benefits and implementation procedures of the VDP. He also clarified the rules and criteria for selecting committee members, their duties and responsibilities, and the types of projects eligible for implementation under the programme.
After the briefing, village officials raised questions on development activities, which U Myint Oo Aung addressed. Local communities then elected a seven-member Village Development Committee to reflect the community’s collective will.
Under the programme, the village will receive a grant of K15 million, supplemented by contributions from residents, to implement priority development projects identified by the community. Rural communities themselves will implement projects with technical assistance and close supervision from officials of the Yephyu Township Department of Rural Development. — Moe Moe (DRD)
