100-year-old Thabyay (Eugenia), three Kanyin (Dipterocarpus alatus) trees discovered in Myanaung Tsp
The Forest Department of Myanaung Township in Myanaung District of Ayeyawady Region discovered one Thabyay (Eugenia) and three Kanyin (wood-oil) trees which are about 100 years old and the department put them on rare tree lists to be conserved.
The 100-year-old Thabyay (Eugenia) was found in the No 46 Hmyinwa Hill forest reserve in Myanaung on 26-1-2021, and it is 22 feet and eight inches in girth and about 100 feet in height. The people can study the tree after a half-a-mile walk west from Pathein-Monywa road milepost 78/2.
The 100-year-old Kanyin — wood-oil — tree was found in the compound of Latpankwin Village resident U Tin Myint in Myanaung Township on 26- 1-2021. The tree is 21 feet and five inches in girth and about 100 feet in height. It can be reached about a four-mile walk along Nyaungchayhtauk-Inpin inter-village road from the Pathein-Monywa road milepost 75/0.
Another 100-year-old two Kanyin trees were found in the compound of Satthwarchaung Village resident Daw Htway in Myanaung Township on 27-1- 2021. The girth of the trees is 12 feet and 17 feet respectively and the height is about 100 feet respectively. The trees are located about 1.5 miles from Myanaung-Hinthada road milepost 49/2.
