Traditional Dance Festival of Mekong-Lancang held in Nay Pyi Taw

The Traditional Dance Festival of
Mekong-Lancang under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Special Fund was held
with the participation of MLC countries with a hybrid system at MICC-2 in Nay
Pyi Taw yesterday.
It was attended by Union Minister
for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko, Deputy Ministers U Aye Tun and Dr
Moe Zaw Tun, departmental officials, MLC countries’ ambassadors to Myanmar and
officials of embassies, the MLC secretary-general office and Mekong-Lancang
coordination team, and artistes and invitees from Mekong regions joined online.
First, Union Minister U Ko Ko
said the main objectives of MLC are promoting social and economic development
in the Mekong sub-region, narrowing the development gap, supporting ASEAN
Community building, implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of
UN and promoting South-South Cooperation among the developing countries.
As per the aim of the
festival-Unity is Diversity, it can be seen the similarities in culture
basically despite the different Mekong-Lancang countries. Moreover, it can grab
the chance to exchange traditions and culture of each MLC country, study the
differences in culture, and conserve intangible cultures while the MLC
countries face the same challenges for the influence of other countries
cultures and development of materials and improve friendship among the young
artistes of MLC countries.
Then, the Union minister called
on the participants to preserve the respective traditional dances of their
countries, exchange traditional dances and pass them down over the new
generations.
Afterwards, Chinese Embassy
Deputy Head Ms Cao Jin and the vice-chair of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation
National Coordination Unit Myanmar made greeting speeches.
Then, Myanmar artistes performed
with Theme Song of MLC and the Union Minister took commemorative photos with
the attendees to the event.
Then, Chinese experts Ms Feng Mi
and Mr Shen Chen and Sayama Gyi Daw Sanda Khin of Myanmar discussed the
learning of Myanmar culture, Chinese culture and the improvement of tradition
and culture with literature and arts and the conservation of Myanmar culture.
Artistes from MLC countries –
Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam – performed their
traditional dances. Then, Myanmar artistes entertained the guests with MLC
honorary song “We are Family One”. —MNA/KTZH
