Japan confirms 41,438 new cases of the coronavirus nationwide, 3,131 in Tokyo

 

Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 3,131 new cases of the coronavirus in Tokyo on Tuesday.

The number is down 1,731 from a week ago. This marks the 21st day of week-on-week declines.

The ministry also confirmed 12 deaths in the capital. It says the number of seriously ill patients on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines was 41. The figure is up two from the previous day.

Nationwide, there were 41,438 new cases and 161 deaths on Tuesday.
