SAC member attends fresher welcoming, prize awarding, project show of University for Computer Studies (Taunggyi)




The fresher welcoming cer­emony of the University for Computer Studies (Taunggyi) for the 2022-2023 academic year was held in conjunction with the prize awarding and the project show at the univer­sity yesterday.


Speaking at the event, State Administration Council Member Dr Kyaw Tun said the University for Computer Studies (Taunggyi) was opened as the Government Computer College on 15 August 2000 and training courses were started on 4 September 2000.


The Government Com­puter College was upgraded as a university on 20 January 2007 and now it is 23 years old. The university produced about 1,413 bachelor’s degree hold­ers in computer studies and computer technology, and post­graduate computer diploma and master’s degree holders and about 475 students are in the current academic year.


Then, the SAC member presented K1 million cash assistance provided by the Shan State Government for the fresher welcome ceremony, prize awarding and the project show.


The SAC member, the chief justice of the Shan State High Court and the state ministers presented prizes to outstand­ing students in the respective courses. Later, students from the University for Computer Studies (Taunggyi) entertained them with Pa-O, Shan, Inn and Bagan traditional dances. The SAC member and party then viewed the booths of the pro­ject show displayed at the hall. —MNA/KTZH
