MoALI Union Minister attends opening ceremony of ASEAN-China Cooperation in Agriculture and Food Security Year

Union Minister for Agriculture,
Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung and Director-General for Planning
Department U Kyaw Swe Lin held a meeting with Chinese Vice-Minister for
Agriculture and Rural Affairs Mr Ma Youxiang in China yesterday.
The Union minister and delegation
arrived in Beijing of China to attend the opening ceremony ASEAN-China
Cooperation in Agriculture and Food Security Year to be held from 25 to 27
April, ASEAN-China Forum on Digital Agriculture Development and the 24th China
International Vegetable Sci-Tech Fair at the invitation of Minister for
Agriculture and Rural Affairs Mr Tang Renjian.
At the meeting, the two parties
discussed the official export of frozen beef, mutton and duck to China, holding
of agricultural cooperation working committee meeting under the China-Myanmar
Economic Corridor Joint Committee, cooperation work in the production of
mixed-sunflower and potato species and prevention and control of animal
diseases at the border area, Chinese experts to Kutkai township near
China-Myanmar border to check and approve the disease at the animal disease
control unit, technical and good species supports of china to expand the sheep
and goat farming in Myanmar and financial support under Mekong-Lancang
Cooperation Special Fund for development of Myanmar’s agriculture sector,
increase the income of rural people and poverty reduction processes.
Then, the Union minister and
party attended the opening ceremony ASEAN-China Cooperation in Agriculture and
Food Security Year held at Kempinski Hotel Beijing Yansha Centre in Beijing.
At the ceremony, the Union
minister highlighted the national objectives of the country, the economic
objective of the government “To enhance development based on agriculture and
livestock using modern production techniques and to strengthen all-round
development in other sectors of the economy”, increasing export of agricultural
products in 2022-2023, over $2 billion trade between China and Myanmar in
2022-2023, bilateral cooperation in farming sectors. The Union minister also
expressed thanks to the Chinese government for its support through the
Mekong-Lancang cooperation programme and Silk Road Project. — MNA/KTZH
