Car crashes into fire station in Tokyo, leaving one pedestrian dead

A car driven by a man
in his 80s crashed into a fire station in Machida City in western Tokyo,
leaving one person dead.
The accident took place
at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
The car is believed to
have mounted a sidewalk from the road, hitting a pedestrian. It then crashed
into the wall of the Machida fire station.
The pedestrian, who
appeared to be an elderly man, was rushed to a hospital but confirmed dead
about an hour later.
The driver suffered
minor injuries to his hands.
The Tokyo Fire
Department says operations at the station have not been affected by the
accident. Police are investigating.
