World Refrigeration Day marked in Nay Pyi Taw
June 27
The World Refrigeration Day for
2023 was held at the Environmental Conservation Department in Nay Pyi Taw
yesterday morning.
At the ceremony, Union Minister
for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi said that
this year’s slogan “Next Generation Cooling: The future is in our hands” is to
remind and call on people to meet the increasing demand for low-carbon cooling
systems and to realize the gradual changes in the cooling technology, that the depletion
of the ozone layer caused by the refrigerants used in cooling equipment is a
challenge to be seriously addressed and that Myanmar is implementing the
reduction of substances that can damage the ozone layer.
The Union minister added that
development of technologies that can mitigate the global temperature and
decrease the atmospheric humidity plays a vital role in reducing the use of
energy and carbon emission, that 20 per cent of the total electricity used in
buildings around the world is used in air conditioners and that it is important
to import and distribute only energy-saving and efficient cooling equipment and
alternative cooling agents that do not harm the ozone layer. — MNA/KZW
