Illegal timbers, industrial materials, foodstuffs, consumer goods and vehicles confiscated



An on-duty team at the Myawady OSS trade zone cap­tured 3,000 kilogrammes of LL­DPE Liner low density polyeth­ylene worth K5 million, 8,000 kilogrammes of cement ceiling board worth K2 million, 2,400 pairs of shower sandal worth K302,400 and 600 motorcycle helmets worth K1.2 million without official documents on 1 July. The action was taken un­der Customs Procedures.


The combined teams under the management of the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradica­tion Task Force confiscated a total of 0.737 tonne of teak, 1.212 tonnes of hardwood and 1.616 tonnes of other timers worth K1,215,834 in Bago and Pyay districts on 1 July, a total of 0.936 tonne of teak worth K617,760 in Nyaunglebin district on 2 July and 0.498 tonne of teak and 4.398 tonnes of other timbers worth K564,066 in Toungoo and Natta­lin districts on 3 July. The action was taken under the Forest Law.


In addition, the on-duty teams nabbed 18,000 packages of Wai Wai instant noodles and instant vermicelli worth K6 mil­lion without official documents at the warehouse in Kawthoung township on 1 July and 25 kinds of goods worth K11.15 million including 17 bottles of Glen­fiddich foreign liquor without official documents at a store in Myeik township on 2 July. The effective action was taken under Customs Procedures.


An on-duty team at the 16th- Mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint impounded a Toyota Hilux (ap­proximately K12 million) carry­ing 0.719 tonne of teak parquet pieces worth K800,000 without official documents heading to PyinOoLwin from Mandalay. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.


The on-duty teams cap­tured a Nissan AD Van valued about K5.4 million carrying eight kinds of goods worth K5.4 million including 30 heads of platform scales made in Chi­na heading to Mandalay from Muse at the detour Tollgate checkpoint in Lashio township and four kinds of goods worth K6.26 million including 1,800 kilogrammes of foam floor sheet made in China without official documents from a Nissan con­dor truck (approximate value of K25 million) and four kinds of goods worth K7.25 million including 1,900 kilogrammes of composite panel made in China without official documents from a Nissan condor (estimated value of K25 million) heading to Lashio from Chinshwehaw near Hopeik tollgate in Lashio on 3 July. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.


An on-duty team seized a Toyota Hilux (estimated value of K12 million) carrying three kinds of goods worth K7.835 mil­lion including 11,700 packages of Wai Wai instant rice vermicelli without official documents trav­elling from Hpa-an to Yangon on 3 July.


Therefore, 19 arrests (the estimated value of K139,595,060) were made on three consec­utive days from 1 to 3 July, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Commit­tee. — MNA/MKKS
