Flood relief efforts strengthened by donations after Typhoon Yagi




The donation ceremony for re­gions affected by flooding from Typhoon Yagi was held yester­day morning at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Social Wel­fare, Relief and Resettlement. Union Minister Dr Soe Win accepted the cash donations and delivered an appreciation speech.


During the ceremony, various donors contributed as follows: Rear-Admiral Htay Na­ing (retired) and Daw Ohnmar Myint donated K5 million, the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Fed­eration contributed K40 million, the Ayeyawady Foundation gave K100 million, Dr Phone Myint (White Hope Mental Hospital) and Kyaing Tong Paradise Ho­tel donated K10 million, U Zaw Min and Daw Kyawt Kyawt San family donated K10 million, U Zaw Win and Daw Nway Nway Win family gave K5 million, the Royal Myanmar Nay Pyi Taw Golf Club contributed K5 mil­lion, and the ‘As Best We Can’ Charity organization donated K1 million. In total, K176 million in cash donations was received at the ceremony.


Additionally, the Myan­mar ambassador to Thailand, diplomatic staff, companies in Thailand, Myanmar workers in Thailand, and other donors contributed 500 rice bags. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs do­nated 100 rice bags, and Ko Thi­ha (Nay Pyi Taw) donated 6,000 purified water bottles worth K3 million. Furthermore, donors led by Sayadaw U Pannacakka from the Ayethukha monastery contributed K7 million, ten rice bags, and 58 bags of consumer goods.


Union Minister Admiral Moe Aung for the Ministry-1 of the State Administration Council Chairman’s Office and his wife Dr Daw Aye Khine Nyunt also provided breakfast and lunch for 450 Tatmadaw members, Myanmar Police Force, and firefighters who volunteered in the flood-bat­tered areas. They also donat­ed lunch boxes, instant noodle packs, soft drinks, and other meals for flood victims through the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.


Similarly, the SkyNet Media Shwe Thanlwin Company fam­ily began donating 10,000 meal boxes daily for flood-stricken areas in Nay Pyi Taw starting 14 September through the min­istry. — MNA/TRKM
