MNREC Union Minister to attend 2nd ASEAN-MRC Water Security Dialogue in Laos

The Myanmar delegation, led by U Khin Maung Yi, Union Min­ister of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, left Yangon for Laos yesterday morning to at­tend the second ASEAN-Mekong River Commission Water Secu­rity Dialogue to be held in Vien­tiane, Laos, on 18 September. Officials from the ministry saw off them at Yangon International Airport.

High-ranking officials from the ASEAN Secretariat, Coun­try level representatives from ASEAN countries, Mekong Riv­er Commission Chairman and Officers, and a total of 250 wa­ter management experts from China, Korea, Canada, Switzer­land, New Zealand, Singapore and the United States will attend the dialogue on water security in the Mekong and ASEAN region. They will discuss how to be re­silient to environmental impacts and how to develop effective pol­icies in the areas of cooperation. — MNA/TS
