Indian govt, AHA centre relief supplies arrive in Myanmar




THE Indian Government de­livered 32 tonnes of emergen­cy supplies to help typhoon-hit Myanmar.


The relief supplies car­ried by Indian Air Forces ar­rived at Yangon International Airport yesterday, consisting of essential items like mosqui­to nets, MRE, kitchen uten­sils, solar lanterns, personal hygiene kits, tents, medicines and bleaching power.


Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Shri Abhay Thakur handed over the relief supplies to the Union Min­ister for the Ministry of the State Administration Council Chairman’s Office 2, and the Union Minister presented a certificate of honour in return.


Similarly, the Indian naval vessel carrying food, clothes, medicines, tarpaulin and tents arrived at Thilawa Port yes­terday night.


Moreover, the Myanmar National Airlines and Myan­mar Airways International carried US$337,148.95 worth of 59,360 kilogrammes of relief supplies containing household items, tents, tarps, shelter re­pair kits, water purifiers and other emergency kits provid­ed by ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Man­agement-AHA Centre. They arrived at Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw international air­ports yesterday. The govern­ment conducted emergency response and rehabilitation measures for flood victims, leaving no one behind, and delivered relief goods to the flood-stricken areas as quickly as possible. — MNA/ KTZH
