CECCM leads Chinese companies and individuals to contribute over K1B towards flood-stricken communities
CHINA Enterprise Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar
(CECCM) and member Chinese companies donated more than K1 billion to
flood-impacted communities, demonstrating corporate social responsibility.
The Yangon Region government office held a donation
event for flood-stricken regions and states at Mingala Hall on 3 October 2024.
Mr Liu Ming, chair of CECCM and representatives of Chinese enterprises were present
at the event. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein handed over a
certification of honour in recognition of their contributions to flood-affected
communities.
Mr Liu Ming from CECCM vowed the organization’s
commitment to engaging in charitable events to help the people in need in
Myanmar. He also elaborated on how Myanmar’s people knit together in unity to
tackle obstacles and challenges.
With the support initiative of the Embassy of the
People’s Republic of China to Myanmar, CECCM announced a donation drive, and 41
Chinese companies immediately responded to it with contributions of cash
(K43.86 million) and flood rescue equipment worth over six million kyats for
flood rehabilitation efforts.
CECCM endeavoured to bolster economic, investment,
and trade cooperation between Myanmar and China and promote cultural exchange
by actively taking part in social activities in Myanmar. It builds an ethical
workplace culture for China-Myanmar employers. It also helps sustain the moral
conduct, accountability and social responsibility of Chinese employers,
positively influencing corporate image.
CECCM was registered as a non-profit social
institution in Myanmar in November 2017, pursuing organizational discipline,
independence and non-profit management. It is committed to exchanging ideas,
discussions, ethical practices, opportunities, and instructional services.
CECCM now has over 250 members from various
industries. Seven associations are now operating under the CECCM, including TMT
Association, Agriculture Development Association, Tourism and Service
Association, International Contractors and Realty Association, Electric Power
Development Association, Heavy Industry Association and Textile and Garment
Association.
Chinese entrepreneurs in Myanmar actively engage in
social initiatives, consistently contributing to disaster relief and emergency
response efforts. They have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the
