False news circulates on unjust arrests near Wathonara, Wyne villages
MISINFORMATION spread regarding the arrest of 10
children near Wathonara village and 20 locals near Wyne village by security
forces.
On 11 October, malicious news media falsely reported
that ten children, aged 15, were arrested by security forces while herding
cattle near Wathonara village in Madaya Township, Mandalay Region. Upon
enquiry, a local security official confirmed that this report was untrue. While
some villages in Madaya Township experienced disturbances caused by PDF
terrorists, security measures were taken, and no unjust arrests of civilians
occurred.
Similarly, on 13 October, malicious news media
claimed that security forces unjustly arrested 20 locals near Wyne village in
Okpho Township, Bago Region, following an attack involving landmines. However,
local security officials clarified that no such attacks or arrests took place
on that date.
These fabricated reports aim to tarnish the
reputation of security forces, spreading false narratives to mislead the
public. — MNA/KZL
