MoI Union Minister inspects English daily; Cash, books, publications provided to Yankin libraries
UNION Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn inspected The Global New Light of Myanmar on Nga Htet Gyi Pagoda Road in Bahan Township, Yangon, yesterday morning.
During the tour, the Union Minister met with the
chief editor and editorial staff of the newspaper at the meeting hall.
First, the General Manager of the newspaper reported
on the working processes.
Then, the Union minister instructed to continue the
newspaper processes with the minimum errors as per the objectives and policies
of the government, promote the feature and essence of the newspaper to ensure
the media development, make efforts to be a reliable paper for the country and
people, apply proper political vision in selecting news and work altogether in
paper production processes.
Next, the chief editor and relevant editorial
officials discussed the nature of the paper and work processes.
After the meeting, the Union minister proceeded to
Myoma Library in Ward 4 and Yankin Gonyi Library in Ward 5 of Yankin Township.
During the meeting with library supervisory
committee members, he stressed the need to upgrade the library services, place
newspapers and journals for the people and youths to receive trustworthy
information, create a safe environment to share or discuss their knowledge
gained from reading habits and work hard to be better libraries than before.
Then, he presented cash assistance, library-related
materials, books, and publications for two libraries.
At noon, the Union minister visited Sarpay Beikman
and inspected the Sarpay Beikman library and bookshop.
He then met the staff of the Printing and Publishing
Department and instructed them to focus on raising reading habit campaigns in
accord with the mottos: “Only through elevation of literature can the nation be
