Monk wounded by terrorists’ homemade landmine in Kayin State
A monk residing at Kyuntaw Monastery in Papun
Township, Kayin State, was wounded after stepping on a homemade landmine
planted by terrorists. The explosion occurred at around noon on 9 October as
the monk, Venerable Bhaddanta Tesantiya, was travelling to Yaypu Monastery.
About 450 metres west of Yaypu Village, he accidentally triggered the landmine,
resulting in injuries.
Security forces quickly transported the injured monk
to Kamamoung Hospital for treatment. Reports indicate that terrorists have been
planting landmines along public travel routes, causing disruptions and creating
travel difficulties for locals. The community has strongly condemned these
acts, while security forces are increasing their efforts to ensure safety and
maintain control over the area. — MNA/KZL
