139,701 acres of oilseed crops earmarked to grow in cold season in Monywa District
Monywa, 7 November
A total of 139,701 acres of oilseed crops have been allocated
to plant in Monywa District of Sagaing Region in this year’s winter oilseed
crops growing season, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
In order to achieve high yield, officials from the District
Department of Agriculture is making field trips and sharing knowledge on
agricultural techniques such as good quality seeds, systematic ways of planting
and prevention of pest infestation to farmers in the District.
Last year, 139,524 acres of oilseed crops were planned to
grow in Monywa District but local farmers have successfully cultivated a total
of 140,108 acres of oilseed crops. In this year’s oilseed crops growing season, local farmers
have targeted to grow 139,701 acres of oilseed crops including 41,310 acres of
ground nut, 66,991 acres of sesame, 100 acres of sunflower in the
