Kanbalu Township plans to grow 40,956 acres of bean varieties in cold season

A total of 40,956
acres of
bean varieties have been earmarked
to cultivate in Kanbalu Township of
Sagaing Region in 2024-2025 FY, according to
the Township Agriculture
Department.
“The local farmers are growing pulses and beans on a larger
scale as consumption requirements for beans are increased in the Township.
Among the crops, pulses are one of the successful cultivation because it has
become one of farmers’ main cash crops today. The Township sends pulses not
only to the regions and states but also to the neighboring countries” according
to an official from the Township Department of Agriculture.
In this year’s oilseed crops growing season, the Township
has targeted to grow 40,956 acres of bean varieties including 850 acres of mung
bean, 1,950 acres of green gram, 995 acres of butter bean, 12,730 acres of blue
phaseolus, 17,790 acres of chick pea, 600 acres of cow pea, 5,550 of lablab
bean and 860 acres of other types of beans in the Township.—District IPRD
