200 Workers Repatriated to Their Hometowns after Returning from Thailand

A total of 200 Myanmar
nationals, who returned to Kawthaung from Thailand, were systematically
repatriated to their respective states and regions.
The group included 198
men and 2 women, who had been detained at the Immigration Detention Centre
(IDC) in Ranong District, Thailand, for various reasons. These individuals had
been convicted of violating Thailand’s immigration laws. The group arrived in
Kawthaung from Ranong, Thailand, on February 24 at 11:45 a.m., aboard 14
outboard motor boats. The repatriation was led by U Moe Zaw, an official from
the Myanmar Labour Attaché Office in Ranong.
The returnees were
welcomed by Deputy Township Administrator U Thu Hein Soe, Township Police Chief
Wai Lin Ko, Chan Myay Zayar Oo, Staff Officer of the Township Immigration
Department, Assistant Director of the Directorate of Labour Department U Nyi
Maung Shwe, Deputy Police Chief Aung San Win, and other departmental officials.
Officials from the
relevant departments collected and verified the personal data of the returnees
at the Nawarat Sports Hall in Kawthaung, and they were systematically sent back
to their hometowns after receiving their COVID-19 vaccinations.—Myint Oo
