Myanmar Music Association honours veteran musicians at 14th annual ceremony
THE Myanmar Music Association (Central)
held its 14th annual ceremony
to honour veteran musicians at 1 pm on 27 February at Sky Star Hotel in Tamway
Township.
The event was attended by Yangon Region
Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Yangon Region Ministers, Myanmar Motion Picture
Association Patron U Aung Lwin and Chairman U Kyi Soe Htun, Myanmar Music
Association (Central) Chairman U Lwin Myint, as well as executives, association
members, veteran musicians, and invitees from the fields of literature, film,
and theatre.
During the ceremony, the Yangon Region
chief minister and the director-general of the Myanmar Radio and Television
delivered speeches. This was followed by remarks from the chairman of the
Myanmar Music Association (Central), who expressed gratitude to the guests.
The association’s General Secretary then provided details on the donations
received for the event.
Next, the Yangon Region Chief Minister
presented a donation of K10 million from State Administration Council Chairman
and Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla
to the chairman of the Myanmar Music Association (Central). Additionally, the
Ministry of Information contributed K3 million, while the Yangon Region
government donated K15.5 million. In total, donations amounted to K41.69
million.
The Yangon Region chief minister and
other attendees then paid their respects to the veteran musicians. Those unable
to attend the event will receive visits from the association’s executive
officers at their homes. Finally, on behalf of the honoured musicians, veteran
musician Sithu Daw Tin Tin Mya delivered a speech. — MNA/MKKS
