Ngwehsaung Beach hotels near full capacity for Thingyan
HOTEL rooms at the Ngwehsaung Beach
have been almost fully booked for the Thingyan holiday, according to travel
agents and residents.
Over previous years, the visitor arrival
at the beach was normal but started increasing as of this month during the
school holidays. Among visitors, most are families, company employees and
groups of young people, said Ko Mon Lay who gives service to accommodation and
mini-Oway at the Ngwehsaung Beach.
“The visitor arrival was normal in
previous months at Ngwehsaung. In this month, the visitor arrival seems large
but a visible increase on weekends and public holidays, because it is summer
holiday and most of the visitors are families and employees on their company
trip and friend groups. For Thingyan, almost all rooms have been booked and all
will be full soon. The visitor arrival is likely to mount in this year’s
Thingyan,” he said.
Visitors come from different regions
and states including Yangon and Mandalay and including the beach, they go to
visit Lovers’ Island, Snake Island, Phayathonzu Island, elephant camp,
Ngwehsaung Square and Bird Island, he added.
The beach’s visitor arrival is generally
large from October to the end of May yearly; however, the beach is empty in
monsoon so some hotels are closed during the period, according to residents.
During the Thingyan holidays, local
visitors have made preparations for vacations in local famous destinations and
for going on overseas trips, according to tour companies. — MT/ZS
