400 books on Myanmar and earthquake risk donated to Info Ministry libraries

A donation ceremony of books, Myanmar and Earthquakes, Earthquake Risk Reduction in Myanmar, written by Professor (Retd) Sayagyi Dr Thein, Head of the Geology Department of Yangon University, for the libraries and library committee of the Ministry of Information, was organized in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

The ceremony was attended by Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint, the permanent secretary, departmental officials, the chairperson, vice-chairperson and officials from the Myanmar Geosciences Society.

Myanmar Geosciences Society Chair Dr Sone Han briefed on the donation.

Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn said the book written by Dr Thein is a valuable one that provides useful knowledge and information about earthquakes. It is not only relevant to the current situation but will also be beneficial for the future. Therefore, it is a book that should be kept in libraries. He also expressed gratitude for the generous donation of such a valuable book.

The Union minister received 400 books from the chair of the Myanmar Geosciences Society, and gave a certificate of honour in return.

The book of Sayagyi Dr Thein is reprinted by Myanmar Geosciences Society, and donated to the libraries and library committee of the ministry, and the donations will be distributed to the relevant libraries. — MNA/ KTZH
