Riverine Residents along Thaung Yin Evacuated to Safer Locations

Due to continuous heavy rainfall, the Thaung Yin River has surpassed the danger level of 963 centimeters, reaching 1,351 centimeters. This rise prompted the evacuation of residents living along the riverbank and in low-lying areas. Evacuation efforts began at 4:30 PM on July 23, 2025.
Under the supervision of U Kaung San Lin, Chairman of the Myawaddy District Disaster Management Committee and District Administrator, affected households are being relocated to designated relief camps in coordination with relevant officials.
As of now, the following relocations have taken place. Kyakhat Taw Relief Camp: 27 households, including 51 males and 46 females, Towya Relief Camp: 32 households, including 70 males and 77 females, Ko Na Win Relief Camp: 58 households, including 107 males and 123 females. In total, 117 households comprising 474 individuals (228 males and 246 females) have been safely moved to higher ground.
The Emergency Relief Committee is providing essential supplies such as rice, cooking oil, and canned fish to support those affected. In total, 11 relief camps have been opened by local authorities to ensure the timely and organized relocation of flood-hit residents.— Saung Hnin Phyu
