Strive to enhance the sports standard of Myanmar

THE XXXIII Southeast Asian Games will be held in Thailand, specifically in Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla. A total of 53 sports events have been categorized. Myanmar plans to compete in 40 of those events. The lists of sports events that the Myanmar team will compete in have already been sent to host Thailand.

Officials from relevant sports federations are selecting preliminary players to be finalized under the target date before the end of July. Athletes, who have been selected from various competitions to represent Myanmar in the XXXIII SEA Games, as well as in future international competitions, are now undergoing systematic training. These Myanmar national sports contingents, which will represent the country in both this regional championship and other international contests, will be given intensive preparation.

In the past, the Myanmar national team, which comprised individuals from different ethnic backgrounds, has proudly brought home medals from international competitions. Representing the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, they have stood tall on international podiums, bringing pride and honour to the nation. With that in mind, the participating athletes will continue to take training diligently before entering the competition, aiming to showcase Myanmar’s strength and ability in the international arena, and to elevate the country’s reputation and prestige.

The development of sports is not only a matter of physical strength but also a way to foster national spirit and contribute to the unity and dignity of the country. Athletic strength building is directly linked to national development. The advancement of the sports sector enhances the prestige, image, and international standing of the country, gaining the respect and recognition of other nations. Sports also help instil discipline, patriotism, and a strong sense of national pride, fostering unity among all citizens and contributing to the emergence of a healthy and resilient nation.

As representatives of the nation, athletes are expected to demonstrate strong sportsmanship and competitive spirit, striving for victory and national pride. Before competitions, they will rigorously train and prepare in advance, aiming to bring honour and glory to the country. They have to control themselves not to engage in inappropriate actions, which can tarnish the image of the country.

In line with this, efforts are being made to practically implement the enhancement of health and sports sectors. As Myanmar athletes shine in various international competitions, showcasing their talent and elevating the country’s prestige and standing in sports, it is urged that all parents and citizens collectively encourage and support these promising athletes who bring pride to the nation.
