State boosts national education standards



The government plans to establish more polytechnic universities nationwide to offer courses in computer studies, technology, and other disciplines.

 

Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing held a meeting with departmental officials and town elders at U Awbatha Hall of Minbu yesterday morning to talk about regional development measures in conjunction with honouring the whole Myanmar first student with six disctions and another six-distinction winner in the ma­triculation examination.

 

Speaking at the meeting, the Senior General unveiled that arrangements are being made to open polytechnic schools for those who passed the matricula­tion examination in Minbu.

 

The Senior General unveiled that there is an intention to es­tablish advanced schools in all regions and states. Some uni­versities and colleges currently have low student enrollment. The government plans to establish more polytechnic universities nationwide, providing instruction in computer studies, technology, and other teachable disciplines.

 

He emphasized that all school-age children should have access to education, and efforts should be made collectively to en­sure smooth transition rates. The State is also working nationwide to promote higher educational standards.

 

He pledged that roads will be upgraded in accord with relevant characteristics. In the agriculture sector, efforts must be made to achieve the per-acre yield of ag­ricultural products.

 

The Senior General contin­ued that the election will be held starting from 28 December of this year. The candidates who will run for election in Minbu District should plan and carry out prac­tical and feasible measures for regional development in advance. They should also be genuinely devoted to serving the interests of the region with a sincere and caring mindset.

 

He underlined that efforts should be made to further devel­op breeding and husbandry activ­ities in Magway Region. Magway region’s economic development will also be enhanced to improve cultivation and production of ag­ricultural and livestock products, he added.

 

He noted that Minbu District is included among the districts engaged in cotton cultivation. Therefore, if cotton-based in­dustrial production can be car­ried out as a model, it will bring significant benefits to the region.

 

The Senior General stressed that in the Minbu region, bamboo should be processed and sold as finished products. It was also sug­gested that sunflower cultivation, as one of the oil crops, should be further improved to increase pro­duction beyond the current level.

 

Regarding education, the Senior General praised that Maung Juu Thet Ko from Minbu Township has achieved top hon­ours for three consecutive years outstanding student, demonstrat­ing exceptional academic ability. In the recent matriculation exam, he earned distinctions in six sci­ence subjects and was ranked first nationwide (the Whole My­anmar First), which is a source of pride. Similarly, congratulations were extended to Ma Han Nwe Moe Zin, who also achieved dis­tinctions in six subjects.

 

The district administrator reported on undertaking of re­gional development, progress of agriculture and livestock activi­ties, efforts to increase per-acre yield of crops, rice and cooking oil sufficiency, issuance of loans from the State economic promotion fund, pass rate of the matricu­lation exam, running of indus­trial, agriculture and livestock basic education high schools, and preparations to hold the election in townships.

 

The Magway Region chief minister gave a supplementary report on the success of agricul­ture and livestock farming, efforts to increase per-acre yield and en­suring to secure rice sufficiency.

 

Town elders presented re­ports on sufficiency for drinking water, repairing of the home for the aged, construction of the Sasana Beikman building and repair of roads, the need to es­tablish a college in Minbu, a re­served generator for the river water pumping station, and devel­opment of MSME businesses due to disbursement of loans.

 

Union ministers and the region chief minister discussed growing of high yield paddy va­rieties, successful cultivation of grape in Minbu, increased culti­vation and production of cotton, plans to grow trees for greening the dry zone, manufacturing of bamboo based products, efforts for development of MSME busi­nesses, conducting of the techni­cal courses to produce value-add­ed products, and operation of Kanni river water pumping sta­tion with the use of solar power.

 

The Senior General pre­sented honorary prizes and cash awards to the six-distinction win­ner, whole Myanmar’s first win­ner Maung Juu Thet Ko, and the six-distinction winner, Ma Han Nwe Moe Zin.

 

The Senior General cordially greeted the attendees.

 

Also present at the ceremony were Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Senior General, Commission Secretary Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo and his wife, Union Ministers U Min Naung, U Khin Maung Yi and Dr Charlie Than, Magway Region Chief Min­ister U Tint Lwin, senior Tatmad­aw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Central Command and officials, teachers and students. — MNA/TTA
