Tourists throng PyinOoLwin’s Dattawgyaik Waterfall despite rains
TOURISM operators in the Mandalay
Region say that despite the rainy season, visitors are still coming to the
Dattawgyaik Waterfall near Anisakhan village in PyinOoLwin Township.
The challenging trail to the waterfall,
nestled among lush green mountains, has made it more appealing to tourists,
who see it as an adventurous jungle trek.
“If I had to name one trip in the
Mandalay Region that has attracted a lot of interest despite the rainy season,
it would be the Dattawgyaik Waterfall, which has three levels, each quite
beautiful. Visitors should note that good health and stamina are important, and
if you plan to go by motorbike or with a porter, you’ll need to be brave enough
for the ride. Recently, during the dry season, I’ve seen groups of tourists
cycling, and the fitter ones even manage to cycle back. The descent to the
waterfall isn’t too tiring, but the hike back up is very exhausting, so I
wouldn’t recommend it for the elderly or young children,” said a local travel
service operator. Most tourists visiting the waterfall are from Mandalay,
arriving in groups by bicycle, motorbike, or car, with hundreds coming on
weekends and public holidays. — ASH/TH
