Commander-in-Chief (Navy)-led delegation visits naval HQs, landmarks in China




THE Tatmadaw (Navy) delega­tion led by Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Htein Win paid a goodwill visit to the People’s Republic of China on 14 Septem­ber at the invitation of Deputy Commander of the PLA (Navy) Vice Admiral Cui Yuzhong with the aim of enhancing friendship and cooperation between the Myanmar Tatmadaw (Navy) and the China’s People’s Liber­ation Army (Navy) and arrived back in Yangon by air on the evening of 20 September.


During the trip, the Myan­mar Tatmadaw (Navy) delega­tion visited the China’s People’s Liberation Army (Navy) Head­quarters in Beijing on the after­noon of 16 September. The del­egation was warmly welcomed by Deputy Commander of the PLA (Navy) Vice Admiral Cui Yuzhong and senior military officers.


The Commander-in-Chief (Navy) and the Deputy Com­mander of P LA (Navy) took the salute of the Guard of Honour and inspected it. Next, the facts about the PLA (Navy) were pre­sented at the hall of the Head­quarters.


They exchanged views on further cooperation between the two navies of both coun­tries and training affairs. In the evening, the delegation mem­bers attended the dinner hosted by the Deputy Commander of the China’s PLA (Navy).


On 17 September, the Ad­miral and party visited the Destroyer Xining at the North Sea Fleet in Qingdao. The com­manding officer conducted them round the destroyer.


At the North Sea Fleet Headquarters, the North Sea Fleet Commander and senior military officers welcomed the Tatmadaw (Navy) delegation with the Guard of Honour and explained facts about the fleet.


The Admiral and party vis­ited the Navy Submarine Acad­emy of the China’s PLA (Navy) on 18 September. The comman­dant of the academy clarified the history of the academy and training measures. The dele­gation members viewed round the library, the simulator and trainers in the academy head­quarters and visited the naval museum.


On 19 September, the Admi­ral and party visited the Shang­hai Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard where officials conducted them round the shipyard.


While in China, the Admi­ral and party also visited the Lingguang Temple, the Great Wall and other landmarks. — MNA/TTA
