Fire Breaks Out in Tamwe Township
Tamwe, 16
September
A fire broke out
around 9:30 p.m. yesterday on the mezzanine floor of a six-story reinforced
concrete apartment in Ward 26, Tamwe Township, Yangon Region. The apartment
measured approximately 15 feet in width and 60 feet in length.
The blaze is
believed to have started due to an overheated wire in a motorized sewing
machine, which melted and ignited clothing stored underneath. Fortunately, no
injuries were reported, and all residents and animals were unharmed.
A total of 36
firefighters and 20 auxiliary personnel responded swiftly to the scene,
supported by four fire engines, four water tankers, and one ambulance. The fire
was fully extinguished by 9:42 p.m. However, the sewing machine and stored
clothing were completely destroyed.
The apartment’s
owner, U Ko Ko Maung, has been charged with fire negligence by the Tamwe Myoma
Police Station.— Naing Lin Aung
