Over 31,000 Acres of Cotton Cultivated in Salin Township

Salin, 18 September

Cotton cultivation in Salin Township, Magway Region, has reached over 31,000 acres this year, marking an increase of 2,147 acres compared to the previous season, according to the Department of Agriculture.

To support the expansion, the department distributed 1,790 acres’ worth of high-quality cotton seeds—including Shwe Taung 8, Shwe Taung 10, and Ngwe Khi 11—and provided fertilizer for 650 acres. The Magway Region Government is also working to supply essential agricultural inputs at affordable prices to boost yields.

U Zaw Lin, the township’s agriculture officer, stated that field staff are conducting surveys in coordination with other departments to ensure accurate cultivation data. He added that efforts are underway to expand planting areas and enhance farming practices through targeted projects. Currently, long-staple cotton plantations are thriving across the township.— Maung Maung (Minbu)
