Myanmar delegation attends Seminar on AI Exchange with Myanmar



THE Myanmar delegation, led by the Deputy Minister for Science and Technology, who is also Chairman of the Inno­vation and Digital Promotion Working Committee, attended the first day of the Seminar on AI Exchange with Myanmar at Baise College in Baise, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, yesterday.

 

At the seminar, the deputy minister and vice-permanent principal openly discussed es­tablishment of future shared sustainable community through thick and thin strengthening the tradition of the Shwe Myo Pauk Phaw relations between China and Myanmar, acceler­ating China-Myanmar coopera­tion projects including the Belt and Road Initiative as this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-My­anmar diplomatic ties and coop­eration in technological devel­opment and human resource development in sectors such as AI, EV, and Smart Agriculture. The two sides exchanged com­memorative gifts.

 

During the “Theories and Practical Implementation of Chi­na’s Path to Modernization” talk show, Mr Yang Cong, vice-chair­man of the Guangxi Zhuang Au­tonomous Regional Committee on the Chinese People’s Polit­ical Consultative Conference, discussed the historical back­ground and key characteristics, such as inclusive development for all citizens, balanced physical and mental development, envi­ronmentally harmonious devel­opment, peaceful cooperation, and fundamental requirements of this approach. He explained that China’s GDP had increased by an annual average of 5.5 per cent from 2021 to 2024, leading to China ranking tenth in the Glob­al Innovation Index in 2025. He also highlighted achievements in social security, poverty allevi­ation, transitions toward green energy such as EVs and renew­able energy, improvements in ecosystem and environmental quality, significant advances in domestic scientific innovation capability, and continuous im­provements in citizens’ quality of life. The Myanmar delegates asked questions regarding areas they wished to learn more about.

 

At noon, the deputy minis­ter and party visited the college library and attended another di­alogue.

 

At the event, Mr Zhao Zhi­gang, Deputy Secretary-General of the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China and Direc­tor-General of the China-ASEAN Information Harbour, discussed AI-related innovation, AI devel­opment in Guangxi, AI cooper­ation measures with Myanmar, establishment of national level AI model for Laos and Vietnam, as well as Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, digitalization and AI-related measures.

 

The deputy minister also discussed measures to promote digitalization and AI technology. — MNA/KTZH
