Vietnam warns vessels over approaching tropical storm
Tropical Storm Koto is
nearing Vietnam's waters, prompting urgent warnings for vessels in the area,
the Vietnam News Agency reported Monday.
As of 7:00 a.m. Monday,
the storm carried maximum winds of 74 km per hour as it tracked westward and is
expected to weaken into a low-pressure system by 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, according
to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
The storm is forecast
to create hazardous conditions in the waters off the central provinces from Gia
Lai to Khanh Hoa, with strong winds and waves of up to five meters.
