People Cast Votes of Their Own Free Will




Thai election observers, along with international observation teams, witnessed Myanmar’s efforts to ensure a free, fair and transparent electoral process.


ACTING President of the Re­public of the Union of Myan­mar and State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thai­land to Myanmar Mr Mongkol Visist­stump, who had completed his tour of duty, at the National Defence and Security Council office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.


At the meeting, they frankly discussed diplomatic relations and friendship measures between Myan­mar and Thailand, participation of Thailand together with international election observation teams in moni­toring the multiparty democratic gen­eral election in Myanmar, observation over the activities of voting people in casting their ballots out of their own accord without any prompting, and holding a free, fair and clean election.


They also talked about the requirements of initiating the cooperation between the two governments and two armed forces to restore peace and sta­bility in the border regions in order to ensure the betterment of bilateral trade and commodity flow.


Moreover, they cordially un­derscored that concerted efforts of the Myanmar government in combatting telecommunica­tion fraud and online gambling, as well as eradicating narcotic drugs, are a national respon­sibility, and endeavours of the government to conserve the nat­ural environment in the border region of both countries.


After the meeting, the Sen­ior General and the Thai Am­bassador exchanged gifts and had documentary photos taken.


Also, present at the meet­ing were Secretary of the Com­mission General Ye Win Oo and Deputy Minister for Foreign Af­fairs U Ko Ko Kyaw. The Thai Ambassador was accompanied by officials from the Embassy of Thailand to Myanmar. — MNA/ TTA
