Honorary dinner hosted in commemoration of 79th Anniversary of Union Day 2026

Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla hosted a dinner in honour of the 79th Anniversary of Union Day 2026, at the square of the Nay Pyi Taw City Hall yesterday evening.

 

On their arrival at the square of the Nay Pyi Taw City Hall, where an honorary dinner would be held, the Senior General and his wife were welcomed by Vice-Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Vice-Senior General Thiri Pyanchi Maha Thray Sithu Soe Win and his wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Commission Member Prime Minister Zeya Kyaw Htin Thray Sithu U Nyo Saw and his wife, the Commission Secretary and his wife, Union ministers and their wives, and the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman and his wife.

 

The Senior General and his wife, and the Vice-Senior General and his wife cordially greeted those who attended the dinner — traditional ethnic cultural troupes from regions and states, chairpersons and representatives from political parties, leaders from NCA signitary ethnic armed organizations and representatives, MSME businesspeople from regions and states, economic ministers and ethnic ministers from regions and states, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, Union ministers, Union-level dignitaries and their wives, and commission members and their wives.

 

The Senior General and his wife, together with attendees to the dinner, watched the fireworks launched to honour the 79th Anniversary of Union Day 2026.

 

Afterwards, the Senior General and his wife had dinner together with the distinguished attendees. Before and during the dinner, vocalists from the modern band of Myanma Radio and Television and artistes performed songs.

 

After dinner, the Senior General and his wife enjoyed traditional ethnic dances performed by artistes from the Department of Fine Arts under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, as well as by traditional ethnic cultural troupes, at the open-air theatre of the City Hall, together with the attendees at the dinner.

 

Artistes from the Department of Fine Arts and traditional dance troupes from the Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Bamar, Mon, Rakhine, and Shan ethnic groups performed songs and dances. After the entertainment, the Senior General and his wife presented the flower basket to the ethic cultural troupes and cordially greeted them. — MNA/TTA
